The Norma Granada is a method of ornamental valuation of trees, palms and shrubs that is of obligatory application in numerous Spanish administrations and assumed as suitable in different jurispidencia.
Since its first appearance in 1990, two revisions have been published, specifically in 1990 and in 2007. It is, therefore, a valuation Norma with a run of almost 30 years; an enriched trajectory thanks to the technical and applicability contributions by many municipal corporations and autonomous governments and, in particular, to the suggestions and recommendations of its users to try to improve the approach of the values to the real market value, especially in the most usual sizes in our cities.
It is a living Norma, in continuous development and improvement that adapts to the particular needs and to the advancement of knowledge in this specific matter. To talk about Norma Granada today is to talk about a classic procedure for the assessment of ornamental trees.
From its origin itself, the development philosophy of the Norma Granada included the obligation that it should be subject to periodic renewals to integrate those innovations or improvements in knowledge and to adapt to the reality of each moment. The current version that dates from 2007 is solid and the result of many years of work by different professionals, as evidenced by its consideration at international level along with other methods developed in different countries of the world (Ponce Donoso & Vallejos Barra, 2016; Contato Carol et al., 2008; Grande Ortiz et al., 2012; Calaza, 1994). However, the essence, the object of the application of the Norma has not changed, is the assessment of ornamental vegetation.
The Norma allows the calculation of an economic value of trees, shrubs and palm trees using botanical, derometric, physiological, physiopathic and market variables, both small and large specimens, as well as being able to calculate partial damages derived, for example, from anthropogenic damages.
Its application is very varied such as expropriations, appraisals, inventories, surveys, etc.
